Tell us how you and your partner met. Your ‘love story’…
We actually met on Tinder! We went on our first date to the quayside for a few drinks where we stumbled on a pub quiz- big mistake. Stephen decided we should take part…in the end we came last! At least we were both just as rubbish as pub quizzes as each other and from then became the best of friends.
How did you feel before your first appointment to try on gowns?
I was really nervous about trying on gowns. I really don’t enjoy clothes shopping at the best of times so really thought it would be hard to find my dress. I also knew that I wanted to lose weight before my wedding as I wanted to feel more comfortable on my big day so that made it even more of a challenge!
Did you have in mind the style and look you wanted from your gown? If so what was it?
Originally I wanted a gown with sleeves and fairly A-Line. I also wanted no sparkle, beads or lace. My dress turned out to be the complete opposite- but I loved it!
How did your consultation during your appointment help to find the perfect dress for you?
My bridal consultation was amazing. It was such a lovely atmosphere in the boutique and I felt so comfortable. I could tell the YAP girls were very experienced in what they do as Heather knew what would suit me more than I even did! She encouraged me to have an open mind; if she hadn’t, I would never have found my dress.
Tell us about your bridal stylist and the ‘You Are Precious’ service you received …
As soon as I arrived at YAP Heather and all the girls greeted me and they made me feel so at ease. Heather took the time to sit with me and talk about what my big day was going to be like and she wanted to know all the details- no matter how small! The YAP girls made me feel like the most important person in the room and were so interested in my big day. They genuinely seemed so happy for me when I found my gown!
How did you feel when you found your precious gown & how did you know it was ‘The One’?
When I put my dress on I immediately knew it was the one. I remember telling Heather that my mam, sister and nana would not be expecting me to like it when she opened the curtain for them to see. When I looked in the mirror I remember thinking that I actually looked like a bride and I felt so confident! I tried on one more dress after just to be sure but knew I had to put ‘my’ dress back on! The second time I put it on, Heather got a veil for me which complimented my dress perfectly! I knew then I had found my dream dress and there were lots of happy tears! It was such a magical moment.
How did you feel in your amazing Y.A.P gown when you tied the knot?
On my wedding day all I wanted to do was put my gown on from the moment I opened my eyes- I couldn’t wait to wear it! I had ordered a size small 7 months earlier and felt pleased (and relieved!) that I had managed to fit into it! When I put it on I had one of the most amazing reactions from my dad and my bridesmaids! My dad was in tears- he never cries! When arriving at the church and seeing Stephen turn to watch me walk down the aisle with tears in his eyes it was the most magical feeling! It was also pretty good when we left the church as husband and wife and he told me that I looked beautiful and he couldn’t believe that I was his wife!
What three words would you use to describe your overall Y.A.P Bridal Journey?
Three words I’d use to describe my YAP experience would be magical, relaxed and unforgettable.
Tell us about the perfect accessories …
I wore Dune bridal shoes and my mams bracelet and earrings. I kept things pretty simple as my dress had a lot going on! I also had a fairly plain veil with a hairpiece.
Talk to us about the location and how you styled your day …
We were married at All Saints Church in Gosforth. It was really special to me that we got married there as its where my grandparents got married and I lost my grandad not long after we got engaged. Getting married there just felt right and that he was there! Our reception was at the Vermont Hotel where we had drinks in the sky lounge with breath-taking views, and then we were in the ballroom for the rest of the day and evening.
Any colour schemes/ themes for your big day?
We didn’t really go for a theme as such when we started planning but I suppose it turned into a rustic theme in the end! I had blush pinks and ivory for my flowers and the same flowers on my tables with log slices and tea lights.
Tell us about your chosen suppliers and how they made your day perfect …
My hair was done Lucy Henderson Hair and Beauty. She made all of us feel amazing getting ready and was so relaxed.
My flowers were done by Charisma florists. Becca is amazing and created exactly what I imagined!
Annabell Pattinson sang during our drinks reception. She was lovely and smiley and sang beautifully.
We had Mr and Mrs letters from Coco luminaire- they made everything so easy and the lights were so beautiful and such a good addition to the ballroom!
Our photographers were Leopardprints Photography. They were amazing right from the beginning. They made us feel so at ease and we adore our photos and will cherish them forever! They also helped with all the little things including stopping people on the High level bridge so we could get the perfect photo!
We had a magician- Ryan Phelps who was fantastic. Our guests – especially my dad thought he was amazing like we did!
We also had a big red bus hired from Henry Cooper coaches. The drivers were lovely and even stayed a while so we could get photos on the bus!
Made to treasure made our welcome sign, place cards and invitations. They were all of very high quality and the welcome sign is ours to keep in a frame which is a lovely addition to our home to remind us of the day.
The Vermont Hotel were amazing and looked after our guests so well. We couldn’t have asked for a better team on our wedding day. Right from the beginning Nicole looked after us and made sure every single part of our day was perfect. The guests were very impressed with the food and everyone had an amazing day!
Thank you Anna for letting us be a part of your bridal journey. We wish you and Stephen a lifetime of love and happiness. You are Precious always.
Love, Y.A.P xx
