Tell us how you and your partner met. Your ‘love story’…
Phil and I met through mutual friends after I moved to the North East for work. However rather unromatically we met on a boozy pub crawl and neither of us can actually remember which pub we met in!!
How did you feel before your first appointment to try on gowns?
Anxious! I know this is the bit that every bride is supposed to be most excited about but I was so nervous and worried that I wouldn’t find a dress to suit me! Several of my colleagues found their dresses at Y.A.P so I decided to book my first appointment with the boutique - I knew I didn’t need to look anywhere else after that first appointment because of how comfortable I was made to feel!
Did you have in mind the style and look you wanted from your gown? If so what was it?
I wanted to be quite open minded in case what I had in mind didn’t suit me! But I knew I was wearing a flower crown so I tended to pick quite simple designs with a bit of a boho vibe.
How did your consultation during your appointment help to find the perfect dress for you?
I was immediately made to feel at ease. I explained all the things I was worried about and we talked about any ideas I had. We picked out a great selection of dresses to try which helped me narrow down the best style for me.
Tell us about your bridal stylist and the ‘You Are Precious’ service you received …
Louise was absolutely amazing! I was super anxious and worried I’d be totally overwhelmed by the experience but the whole appointment was so relaxed and most importantly fun! She helped me realise what part of each dress I liked/suited me and never rushed me. Brogan and Heather were amazing when I came to collect my dress and choose a veil. Everyone at Y.A.P helped me feel so confident and special.
How did you feel when you found your precious gown & how did you know it was ‘The One’?
Surprised! Louise persuaded me to try on one last dress based on what I’d liked so far. It was one I would never have picked out myself - I almost didn’t try it on but I loved it! I’m such an indecisive person, I knew I wouldn’t be able to decide at my first appointment. Louise suggested I come back for a second time with a clear head. In the weeks between appointments I kept looking at my dress, and everything else I tried on I compared to it. As soon as I put it back on that second time it felt totally right!
How did you feel in your amazing Y.A.P gown when you tied the knot?
I felt amazing. And so comfortable which was important to me - I wanted to be able to be on that dancefloor all night!
What three words would you use to describe your overall Y.A.P Bridal Journey?
Supportive, special, fun!!
Tell us about the perfect accessories …
I was pretty sure I wouldn’t want a veil but as soon as I tried one on I completely changed my mind! I think that was what made me feel like a real bride! I picked a long simple ivory veil which went perfectly with the real flower crown made by my florist. I kept my veil on for the whole wedding- how it didn’t get ruined on the dancefloor I have no idea! I had some sparkly Kate Spade trainers so I knew I’d be able to stay on the dancefloor all night.
Talk to us about the location and how you styled your day …
Our venue was Charlton Hall in Chathill, Northumberland. It was the first venue we visited and it hadn’t actually been renovated when we went but even just from the plans we knew it was the one for us (even if our family thought we were a bit crazy to book what was essentially a building site at the time!!) It was so bold and different and when we saw the completed venue we were blown away. We always said we wanted our wedding to be more like a 'massive party' and Charlton Hall completely fits the party vibe.
Any colour schemes/ themes for your big day?
Our bridesmaids/groomsmen were in silver/grey and we used our flowers to provide pops of bold pinks to match the venue.
Tell us about your chosen suppliers and how they made your day perfect …
We really wanted to use local suppliers and they were all absolutely incredible.
I followed our photographers Simon and SJ (From The Smiths) on Instagram and completely fell love with their style. They are so incredibly talented, super fun and I still keep obsessing over our photos months later. We always said our main aim for the day was for it to be an amazing party atmosphere and they captured that in our photos perfectly!
Sharon from Wild With Love flowers took my many, jumbled, ever changing ideas and managed to provide us with the most beautiful flowers and the crown I dreamed of.
Phil’s dad owns a menswear shop in Alnwick (Bell & Sons) where we got our amazing suits (pretty sure suit choice was the only thing I let Phil have a say in!)
Our cake was made by the fabulous Emily from Chemily’s cakes. I showed Emily a few ideas but what she created for us was better than I ever dreamed and most importantly tasted incredible.
Etch+Cut provided us with beautiful perspex signs which we now have decorating our house.
Above The Clouds made us a perfect seating plan and table signs featuring all our local pubs.
Keely we are so happy you are a part of our Y.A.P family - we adored looking after you along the way on your bridal journey! We wish you and Phil a lifetime of love and happiness. You are Precious always.
Love, Y.A.P xx
