It’s not a very exciting story.. Shamen and I were only 16 and 17. I used to walk my dog, Rosie, every night after school and most nights I would bump into shamen who was out running. I was in Gym class at school one day when I received a text from Shamen asking if I’d like some company walking the dog.. and the rest is history really. Apparently, he knew I was a keeper because I had packed cheese cubes for our walk, but to his disappointment they were for the dog haha!! Since then we’ve grown up together really, he went to uni, then we bought our first home, a second dog and now we’ve had our dream wedding and couldn’t be happier. We should probably thank my dog Rosie for us being together, so it was obvious she would need a role at our wedding !
Truthfully..I was dreading it. I had been to a couple of other dress shops, and each time I was very nervous about being the centre of attention and with each passing appointment I became more convinced I wouldn’t find ‘The One’ . When I arrived at YAP everything was more relaxed and yet personal at the same time. They took the time to find out more about what I envisioned my big day to be and how I wanted to feel.
Unlike most people, I didn’t have a clue. Even when I narrowed it down to the final two (both from YAP) they were two completely different shapes, but both beautifully simple. Brogan, my stylist, had clearly understood I was looking for something classy and understated but they were both had their own wow factor.
The consultation was fab, Brogan was genuinely interested in the plans we had for our big day and really seemed to get an idea of what I was hoping for in a dress, even though I wasn’t sure myself. She was so helpful; I don’t enjoy the limelight but it goes without saying when looking for your wedding dress you feel like your on stage, or literally on a pedestal. Brogan made the whole experience more relaxed and yet still special and I felt as though she was giving me her honest opinion. She was very patient and understanding.
I went from thinking I’d never find the one to being torn between two! Myself, my mam and my nan all had differing opinions but in the end after trying each of them on and off what felt like a million times (poor Brogan) I went with my gut and it just felt perfect. The Y.A.P girls held my train up in the air so I could imagine how it would look on the staircase of our venue and I just knew it was the one!
I felt amazing. The fabric was stunning and the dress looked beautiful all day and night.
Dreams come true.
We chose burgundy/navy/gold as our colour scheme. We thought it would really suit the time of year. Our bridesmaid dresses were also Motee Maids’ burgundy with a little sparkle and the guys had a mix of navy or burgundy ties! Of course, the dogs had matching leads and collars too.
We used Sean Elliot Photography and Jon from Top Table for our video. They worked so well together and really made everyone feel relaxed!
Kelsey’s Makeup and Beauty - Kelsey is just a beautiful person inside and out. My makeup was exactly what I wanted and lasted all day!
Floral Quarter - Vicky actually suggested YAP to me at our first meeting and her flowers were divine, they were still alive over a week later!
