I was so excited about visiting Y.A.P Bridal Boutique, because I had heard lots about the boutique and already had my heart set on finding ‘the one’ in such a special place. I had butterflies and my stomach was filled with nerves and excitement, wondering whether the dream dress I thought I would like would even be a style that suited me.
From walking up the stairs and seeing photographs of beautiful brides and their grooms making memories, to entering the door of the beautiful boutique, I was blown away. It looked movie like - with gowns hanging and gorgeous décor (not to mention the cards and special gifts scattered around which just oozed appreciation and love). I was greeted with a hug and huge smiles and instantly felt at ease, welcome and even more excited. I just couldn’t wait to get into the room full of amazing gowns, the girls were relaxed and wanted to get my first appointment so right that we sat and took things slowly.
I suppose I always knew I would go for something figure hugging but not too delicate and thin as I wanted to show off my curves in the best way, making sure I didn’t feel too curvy or busty (a huge body issue of mine which Jo and the girls were to shortly find out!). I always wanted lace to give my dress a vintage feel but I had in mind a more heavily laced dress.
During the consultation, I was asked to describe my venue and my style and my ideas…importantly being asked how I wanted to feel on my wedding day. A question that took me by surprise I suppose as you don’t usually get asked about how you would like to feel- the focus for many boutiques is how you want others to see you. Funnily enough, ‘I don’t want to look like a princess’ was my initial reaction- oh how wrong I was! I found that when you find ‘the one’, feeling like a princess is the exact thing you feel and rightly so! I felt like I wasn’t great at getting my ideas across but the girls pieced together my thoughts and pulled out beautiful gowns which ticked lots of those boxes!
I can’t put into words how I was made to feel in the hands of the girls in Y.A.P. Jo, Danni, Heather and Louise are the most passionate, loving and kind stylists who make you feel like you’re the only bride in the world and finding that dream dress is their aim. Nothing was a problem, there was no rush and they filled me with excitement as I had the feeling I had found the ideal dress. You immediately feel like part of the Y.A.P family, with people you have only known a matter of hours.
‘The One’ was one of the first dresses I tried on and I had a bit of a feeling; however, not wanting to rush too soon, I tried on about another 6! I went back to ‘that’ dress and when I put it on again, even though it wasn’t my exact size, I cried! I knew. I felt amazing and couldn’t wait to have mine in the boutique. We popped the bubbly and celebrated finding it- a truly special moment.
I have loved being a part of the Y.A.P family throughout my whole wedding planning experience. I was filled with excitement every time I had an appointment to visit the boutique and I am rather gutted that I don’t have to go back! Nothing at all was a problem- even when I felt a little stressed about the ‘bust issues’ I mentioned earlier! Jo has the most calming nature that can make you feel at ease within seconds. What’s best about the Y.A.P team is that they are down to earth, honest and reliable. The whole journey was exciting – even a Facebook message was filled with love and passion (filling me with excitement!). Having Jo dress me on my wedding day topped off my journey and made the whole morning so special. Jo made the whole bridal party feel calm and special and the ‘reveal’ to my family and friends couldn’t have been more amazing. I can’t thank the team enough.

• ACCESSORIES •
I chose a designer called ‘Charlotte Mills’ for my shoes as they had quirky hearts up the center and a very special ‘something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue’ theme !
My veil was a beautiful double layer mid length veil with a delicate and gorgeous lace trim- bought from Y.A.P.
I decided to go for a fresh floral crown to match my bouquet in my hair.
• FEELINGS •
I felt glamorous, elegant and beautiful (if all three are possible?) and more importantly, I felt like myself.
• VENUE •
My wedding day was at a place called ‘Whinstone View’ in a barn. We wanted the day to have a relaxed feel to try and take the formalities and stress away and have a group of relaxed guests, having fun! We wanted the day to flow and have enough for our guests to do all day.
• DETAILS •
I don’t think I really had a colour scheme but pastels played a big part! The theme of the day was a pretty, vintage style with us having afternoon tea as our wedding breakfast. Flowers played a huge part in our day and were everywhere! They really were beautiful. I love trinkets and candles with pretty hanging signs and hearts so I thought- why not bring that design into the theme of my wedding day? So I did!
• SUPPLIERS •
My flowers were supplied by ‘Jan Watters’ in Cleadon. They were amazing and made me feel amazing too!
My cake was rustic and so delicious! This was made by ‘Cakes of the Dales’.
Our fantastic photographs were taken by Helen Little Russell Photography . We chose Helen because her relaxed, vintage, pretty style matched our wedding theme and feel for the day perfectly. I love every single one. Laughing, loving and having an amazing time was captured in her prints.
We also had Daniel from Shoot Me Now Films to film a unique video using cinematography. We are yet to see our trailer but we know we aren’t going to be disappointed! Dan was amazing on the day and made me feel at ease.
We arrived to the church in a fab vintage VW Camper van from Dubtrips – beautifully decorated inside.
Huge loves and thank you's to our wonderful Zoe for sharing her precious journey with us all - Also big thanks to Helen Little Russell Photography for capturing the most gorgeous shots of their special day xxx
